Why hospitality is more than what’s on the plate

At Gather + Gather, we believe food is just the start. What really drives us is people, culture and the buzz of hospitality that makes work feel alive. That’s the journey we’re on — and the next chapter is looking very exciting.

When we set out to refresh our brand, we asked ourselves one big question: what should the next chapter of hospitality look like?

The answer wasn’t just a new logo or a new campaign. It was a mindset shift.

CB: “When we kicked off the project, we were talking about how we build our brand for growth. And growth came about from not just growing our business, but how do we grow in terms of steps forward and steps ahead in the industry, and start to build more stories and more opportunities for our brands.”

Culture First

Let’s be honest, anyone can talk about where they source their ingredients or how they recycle. And of course, all of that matters. But for us, the real magic comes from people and culture. Because when your culture is strong, your service has energy. And when your people feel it, your clients and their teams feel it too.

That led us to define three key values all informed by our people, our clients, and our industry. These aren’t just nice words to be displayed on a poster — they’re how we work every day:

Hospitality in the workplace shouldn’t be seen as a cost line. It’s an engine for ideas, collaboration and wellbeing. In a world of hybrid teams and endless video calls, the café or coffee bar is more than a break space – it’s where sparks fly, conversations flow and people reconnect.

CB: “When we did a deep dive around our culture…the word family came up over and over again.”

That’s what our new brand approach is all about: family. Not in a cheesy way — but in the sense that we’ve got each other’s backs. We look after people. We celebrate together. We share the wins and rally when things are tough. For us, hospitality is about creating spaces that feel welcoming, human and alive. It’s about those simple acts of kindness — a warm hello, remembering a name, going the extra step — that make people feel part of something bigger.

PC: “I’m going to go back to that well-known guy called Will Guidara… He talks about service being in black and white and hospitality being in colour. And I think Gather + Gather, our teams deliver hospitality with colour. Because they feel a personal commitment to what they do.”

That’s the difference: service ticks a box, hospitality paints the whole picture. And at Gather + Gather, our teams bring it to life in full colour, every single day.

What’s Next

We believe the future is bespoke. It’s about listening first, tailoring every detail, and trusting our people to deliver what’s right for each client. We’re not here to roll out cookie-cutter solutions.

PC: “Companies come to a presentation and they have a box of tricks that applies to every client. That’s not our approach and never has been our approach. We’re definitely not going down that route now. It’s all very much around listening and tailoring to specific client needs.”

We know that it’s our teams who know their clients best. They see the rhythms of the day, the moments that matter, and the opportunities to go above and beyond. By empowering our teams to shape experiences that are personal, relevant and alive, we create partnerships that last and help make everyone’s day that little bit better.
